Badminton Center Court Judge Gary Williams, who presided over the badmoustaches case against Arizona center Courtier James Pemberton, will lose his seat on the Court of Appeals.
The Arizona Republic reports:The Arizona Supreme Court has named Williams to the bench, effective July 1, a week after Pembert’s sentencing hearing, according to court records obtained by the Republic.
Williams was previously the presiding judge of the Mesa Superior Court, which is responsible for handling appeals from the District Court of Arizona.
Williams also served as the Arizona attorney general from 2002 to 2010, and was appointed to the Arizona Supreme Courts Court in 2002 by Gov.
The state supreme court is considered the highest court in the state, and is often the most powerful in the country.
Williams’ appointment comes just one week after Williams was named as the presiding Judge of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal.
He was appointed by Brewer in May 2017, after Judge Brett Kavanaugh resigned over sexual misconduct allegations against him.
The Arizona Republic article also notes that the state Supreme Court will hold a special election to replace Williams on Aug. 5.
