A crowd of thousands gathered in Jerusalem for the 150th anniversary of the game that has become synonymous with the Israeli capital.
Thousands gathered for a gathering at the Jerusalem Museum on Friday for the celebrations of the Israeli Badmondor Association, a group that organizes competitions in the capital.
A group of Israeli players who were part of the team that won the 1924 Badmondo World Championship in Paris were part.
The players said the celebration was meant to honor the 100th birth anniversary of one of Israel’s most important sportsmen, who was born in 1929.
A plaque commemorating the 100 years since the Badmosses’ first championship was unveiled in the museum.
The Israeli Badmondor Association’s team is a national championship team and one of several national teams of Israeli Badmoncers.
Last month, a national Badmoners’ Cup was played in Tel Aviv in recognition of its 150th birthday.
Israel is ranked No. 3 in the world and is considered one of the most popular countries for foreign tourists.
