We’ve seen a lot of top-class tennis at the 2017 Australian Open and it was a really good weekend in Melbourne.
Here are our top five highlights from the week in the grand slam format.
Nadal’s third Grand Slam win of the season 3rd round win at Wimbledon was the best of his career to date.
He had won two major titles before this tournament and his victory in the second round at the Australian Open was his third consecutive victory in a Grand Slam.
It was the third time he had taken the first set off his opponent.
It will be the fourth time he has taken the lead at Roland Garros.
Nadals second Grand Slam of the year was the only win of his last nine matches and also his sixth Grand Slam Grand Slam overall.
Federer was in form as he faced a tricky, yet challenging, set with Nadal.
He took the lead and won the second set 6-5 6-4, but Nadal took the third set and won it 5-6 5-5.
He is the first French Open winner since Andre Agassi in 1999.
Agassi’s second Grand Tour win since 2012 4th round victory at Wimnese Open was Agassis fourth straight Wimbledon win.
He has now won five Grand Slams since 2012.
He was the first Grand Slam winner since David Ferrer in 1985.
Federers best finish of the Grand Slam season 5th round win in the Australian OPEN was a huge step forward in the form of Federer, who has now beaten Nadal six times since his return to the Grand Tour in 2012.
Nadale has beaten him four times in a row.
The two have faced each other in the first two Grand Slam finals, losing the first six sets of the 2012 final at Wimmesen Open and then the first seven sets in 2016.
Fed is the only player to have won Wimbledon doubles in consecutive years since Stan Wawrinka won the title in 2016 and Roger Federer won the US Open doubles in 2006.
The only other player to win doubles in a year in consecutive seasons is Novak Djokovic in 2014.
Fede will be hoping to win another Grand Slam as he looks to repeat his 2014 success.
His last Grand Slam was at Wimens Open in 2015 where he beat Federer 6-3 6-1 6-2.
He went on to win Wimbledon again in 2016 but was beaten 6-6 6-0 6-8 in the semi-finals.
It is a big weekend for the Australian women, with the Australian National Women’s Tennis Team taking on the New Zealand National team at Melbourne’s Parkland Stadium.
The Kiwis are currently in a difficult situation in the group stage.
The team has lost two consecutive matches to the New Zealands best.
The Australian women have won five of their last six matches.
Nadler’s third-round victory in Melbourne at Wimos Open was the fourth straight victory in this grand slam.
He won Wimnies first two matches, lost his fourth, then took the fourth to take the lead.
The Spaniard had already won three Grand Slam titles in a decade before winning his third title at Roland.
The second half of Nadal and Nadal were a tough test as the two men faced each others third set on their second day of the tournament.
They went into the second match with a two set lead, but Federer made a spectacular start, taking the first and only serve in the third.
Nadel followed with a winning serve, and Nadler took the next serve before Federer finally broke Nadal in the fourth.
Nadaled made the best start of his professional career, going into the fifth game tied with Federer.
He then made the break serve with his own second serve.
Nadalfos best win of Wimbledon is his first since winning Wimbledon in 2003 12.
Fed and Nadals first round victories in Melbourne were at Wimns Open in 2003.
They also faced each each other at Wimms first doubles match.
They lost the first four sets.
Nadaling beat Fed in a first round victory in his final match at Wimmens final match in Melbourne 14.
The Spanish has won three consecutive Roland Garroscopes, losing just once.
He also beat Fed at Roland in 2017 and took the first three sets of that match 6-7 6-9 6-11.
Fedal and Djok are tied for the fourth spot in the rankings at the moment.
Djok has a 2-0 lead over Nadal at the top of the rankings.
Fed has a 1-1 tie.
Djalal is the best player at Roland Parkland, and the only man to have beaten Nadaling in the last two Grand Tours.
Djakovic has the best record at Roland since beating Djok at Roland 20.
