Seattle Badmassons Badmasses Basketball team, Big 5 Badmens Badmons Basketball team and Bellevue Athletics Club are all closing for good after failing to attract enough sponsors to survive.
The Bellevue Big 5 basketball team, which won the city’s first NCAA tournament title in 2018, and Bellevues Badmains Badmants Basketball team won a combined 10 games this season.
They will no longer compete at the Bellevue Arena, which is now a private facility for the Seattle Mariners baseball team.
The Big 5 lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the semifinals.
The Badments won the NCAA tournament for the third straight year and have won the last three championships.
“The Big 5 has a long and proud history in the city and Bellevuedaas basketball program, and we are saddened to be leaving the city,” Badmills coach Matt DeJong wrote on Twitter.
Bellevue Parks and Recreation announced in January that it would close for good due to a lack of funding.
The city has had a budget crisis since 2018.
The Parks and Rec board said in December that it was facing a $9.6 million shortfall for the next two years and would have to cut services, including programs for children and the homeless.
The parks department said the budget would be adjusted in January, but no date has been set for that change.
